The American Racing Championship (Season Write Up) Empty The American Racing Championship (Season Write Up)

OOC: The American Racing Championship is ARCSOA's chief rival series. Based almost exclusively in the southern regions of the United States, the modern American Racing Championship harkens back to the old days of the ARC, prior to ARCSOA reunification. Some historic races have been brought back by the current ARC. The series, in its inaugural year back from the dead, has struggled with low car counts, and lack of sponsorship. This can be attributed to their lack of diversity. The series has shied away from minority based drivers, in an effort to return to the original southern/conservative roots of the original ARC. This has caused raised eyebrows among major sports media providers which have shied away from giving the ARC a full season TV contract. The cars are about twice as heavy as the current ARCSOA Elite Series cars. With the largest field, all season being 25 cars. The series has a lot of growing to do. However, here's how the season went.

The Rival 500

Ethan Moore starts on the pole for the inaugural race. The 25 drivers will run 188 laps around the Talladega Superspeedway. The lead changed several times. However, the race was dominated by the Red Bull Mazda cars. These cars were incredibly controversial. Fans did not like the fact that Red Bull brought non-American cars to the track. Prior to the race, the Red Bull Hauler was egged and vandalized by fans.

The Red Bull cars would swap the lead for 42 laps until Logan Faulkner fell out of the race with engine failure. Kris Wascher then led until lap 88 and the field spread out. A rather suspicious debris caution flew on lap 126. This was the first caution of the race. After that, Dewitt Fordale Jr, the fan favorite fell out of the race due to engine trouble on lap 156 bringing out caution #2. This took a considerable time cleaning up. The green flew on lap 164, and then the big one took place wiping out 15 of the remaining 22 cars.

Kris Wascher would take the victory in his Red Bull Mazda among flying beer cans.

The General Lee 250

The fans rejoiced when both Red Bull's were taken out of the race respectively by the Planter brothers on lap 126. The Red Bull's were once again murdering everyone, lapping the field twice by the 75-mile point of the race. Faulkner and Wascher were noticeably upset at this.

Only 6 cars finished a 125-mile race that saw 14 cautions. However, the fans rejoiced when Allie Nelson, the ARC's cover girl, won the race.

3. Billy Bishop -3L

The Lowes 600

Both the Red Bull's blew up within the first 20 laps. It's becoming clear that while the Red Bull's are the fastest cars, they don't do well in heat. The Lowes 600 is the longest race of the year. A direct competitor to the ARCSOA American 700. Reliability was a huge factor in this race though.

2. Davis Montgomery
3. Doyle Hammond
4. Dewitt Fordale Jr.
5. Brett Conley
6. Ethan Moore

The Lone Star 500

This race was run at 106 degrees. I am not joking either. It was incredibly hot. The drivers were put to the test. The race was shortened to 300 miles after drivers complained that the conditions were too hot to race in. Surprisingly, Logan Faulkner somehow got his Red Bull to the end of the race minus one cylinder to win. He had built up a 2 lap lead, that fell to only 5 seconds after he crossed the line.

1. Logan Faulkner
2. Dewitt Fordale Jr.
3. Jay Barker
4. Bobby Blackburn
5. Martin Gregory
6. Bill Braddock Jr.
7. Zach Campbell
8. Jessica Shelton
9. Doyle Hammond
10. Allie Nelson

The NRA Showdown at Bristol

This race was a crash fest won by Kris Wascher. His teammate Logan Faulkner led until he was wiped out of the lead by Skyler Planter. Many cars finished laps down in this event. The race made the series look more of a laughing stock than it already did.

1. Kris Wascher
2. Jessica Shelton -2L
3. Denny Loomis -2L
4. Martin Gregory -2L
5. Brandon Schmidt -3L
6. Reed Simmons -3L
7. Joey Haley -5L

The Sunfire 500

With the championship on the line, the racing at Daytona was quite intense. The tension could be cut with a knife as the race saw beating and banging as if it were a short track. Ethan Moore took the win, but who took the championship?
