Ryan Griffin to make OES season 23 his last
On a weekend in which the OES celebrates its crown jewel event, one driver dropped a bomb. Well watching coverage of the American 700, after failing to qualify himself, driver Ryan Griffin posted via Twitter than he intends next season (season 23) to be his last full time go in the OES. Griffin, the season 11 OES champion, has not had a great season at all and only recently announcing that he was leaving the team he currently drives for, Silverspeed, at the end of the season.
Griffin started racing in the OES back in season 8, won the series title in season 11, and left the series after season 13. He returned as a one off entry for both the American 700 and Indy 250 in season 19 qualifying for the latter and finishing in the top 10 in the event. He was picked up by Silverspeed (then known as Pure Michigan) as sub late in season 19 and has been at the team since.
Griffin, who turns 37 in the fall, had announced late last season that he and his wife are expecting and this maybe part of the reason for his decision.
