Round 6 of Darlington

Post by FUEL on March 11th 2017, 11:11 pm

After an interesting race overseas in the Philippines we head back to the U.S. and over towards the east coast. It's been a heck of a trip to get back home and some people are looking for redemption after some heart break finishes last round. Darlington surely won't be any easier as "The Lady In Black" has always been "Too Tough To Tame" for some drivers. For some drivers like Nick Mace, Luke Martin and Jesse Turner past winners at this track have had some of the best average finishes and laps led here. They will be the favorites. Mace and Turner the 2015 rivals for the championship are trailing Jeff James in the points and with James already off to a big lead it is important for the entire field to make sure they not only have a good solid day for the points but to out run that #15 of Jeff James.

Our DNQ's for this weekend have already been decided, here are the results of qualifying ran yesterday.

1. #21 Zaedin Davidson
2. #43 Andreas Allen
3. #45 Ryan Acosta
4. #99 Nick Pericles
5. #37 Matt Daleo
6. #14 Hayden Kline
7. #32 Treck Tauger
Cut Off
8. #06 Mason Gordon
9. #66 Bradley Bishop Jr.
10. #22 Maalik Nevins
11. #89 Steven Pollard III
12. #9 Scott Roush
13. #23 Beka Haddix

So Gordon, Bishop Jr., Nevins, Pollard III, Roush and Haddix have failed to qualify for the event.

Pre-Race Media Question (To All Drivers/Owners): Coming into the round 6 of Darlington, what is your mind set and goals for this weekend?

Dodd: "I think our biggest goal is to do what we have done pretty well so far this season(besides in the Philippines): Stay out of trouble, keep our nose clean, and finish the race. If we can do that, especially at such a difficult track like Darlington, then I think we can come out with a pretty decent finish, and hopefully stay in the Top 35 in points for another week, which would be incredible for this #3 IKEA Chevy team."

Griffin: Goal is simple, finish as well as we can. We have had two problem free races already, just have to continue to do that.

Andreas: 12th".... On one hand I am happy to FINALLY get a top 15, but man if that wreck hadn't happened we could've gotten so much more. I honestly believe that it was just a racing deal, two drivers going for the same real estate at the end of a race. We still need to get ourselves together as a team though. Skye was still pretty slow today, and Ryan didn't really have too great of a car despite starting in the top 10. But congratulations to Jeffery on the top 5 finish! I swear he has done great things in that car this year. We may need to start looking at them for infromation."

Finguy: "That's a top 5. I'll take it. Two in a row. That's what we like to see. This is a new FPM and I love it. Course in reality it would had been a day in the top 20 or 15. But we kept it straight. I really think the move to partner with Allen Family was the right call. We're literal teammates so, I hope the info we share with Allen balances us out into an even playing field soon..."

Sean: That race was going to be bad when you have idiots like the #20 out there running 15 MPH slower than they should be, and weaving around like they are racing me for position. That is the 2nd week in a row in which I was taken out by a damn lapped car. I wish the officials would do something about the issue.

Sean: In a way, I am kind of glad I fell out. I loved watching everyone throw their brain into the garbage can after I fell out. I sat down on the roof of my camper with a bag of popcorn, and a beer and watched that race intently. It was quite frankly hilarious. The SCS officials once again dropped the ball, because Turner should have been suspended. Or at least if I had done that, I would have had the book thrown at me. But once again, the SCS officials seem to play favorites.

(punches Turner right in the face)
Eugene: You think you can take out half the field like that! Huh?! (lands more punches)
(multiple crews pile in)
Turner's Crew Chief: CUT HIM LOOSE! CUT HIM LOOSE! CUT HIM LOOSE!

Minutes later...

Press reporter: Eugene, I know you're upset but do you have any reasons to punch Turner multiple times in the face?
Me: It's simple, Turner try to take out one guy but in reality, he took EVERYONE out! So I thought if I punch his head hard enough, then maybe he'll learn not to do it again.
Press Reporter: Aren't you afraid of getting a huge penalty after this?
Me: Nope. It's my last season man, it doesn't matter. (leaves)

Dodd, 36th: "Well, that race was rather rough. It's unfortunate, but I am thankful to have gotten the opportunities that this #3 IKEA Chevy team has had over the last couple of races, to not have to worry about where we qualify... We'll keep working hard at it, just as we always do, and hopefully we can make something happen, and keep giving ourselves chances at running in this amazing series!"

Probably the roughest way I've ever earned a top-10. I'll meet up with Shelly at the next race weekend and talk about what happened. Not throwing fisticuffs like Eugene did, but settle it out like gentlemen cause that would be a great thing for us to do so we can get back on course with our fellow racers and the fans.
