Eugene Demax's Point Penalty Is Appealed
After an appeal process with Mace Enterprises on Eugene Demax, the 40 point penalty handed out a few hours after the race has been lifted. However, a $50,000 fine was handed out to Demax and a loss of qualifying privileged was given to Demax for Springfield and Dover.
The loss of qualifying privileged will be a new penalty the SCS Officials will now be using in an effort to straight out these drivers. Originally, James Shelly, Steven Jenkins and Matt Daleo were going to be let off with a warning but they will lose qualifying privileged at Springfield due to wreckless driving.

Sean: I know I genuinely argue rules because I get my kicks, but I have a concern about this kind of penalty system. Is it right that an on track penalty be assessed for an off track action. Demax punched Turner, which in itself warrens a penalty. However, having them start from the back doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The points penalty was a more appropriate punishment. Maybe not to the extent that the SCS officials originally assigned, but 10 points would have been good. But punishing through on track punishment doesn't make much sense to me.
