Battery Problems plague several in opening practice


FUEL Brothers Racing and Blue Flare Motorsports have been two of the fastest teams of the season so far. However, all 4 of their cars suffered battery problems in opening practice here at Phoenix. Kenny Myatt did set a lap. But he only scored the 27th fastest time, as the car died coming out of turn 4 on his only hot lap. BFM and FBR have the same battery supply system. It is a system that takes used energy from braking, and converts it into extra horsepower. However, that system, designed to give more battery power, is actually draining battery power. No word on if the battery system will be disabled for the race. If both BFM and FBR disable the system, or redesign it throughout the weekend, they will be moved to the back of the starting grid.

Noah Hart: We've been having problems with batteries all season. Cost me a chance at a win in Daytona. We will look into it and fix what needs to be fixed to make our cars quicker and we'll be changing our battery system out for a new one.

FBR and BFM lead final practice, despite starting in bottom 4. 


FUEL Bros Racing and Blue Flare Motorsports are looking incredibly quick in final practice. However, due to the battery system change, they will be starting in the bottom 4 positions on the grid. The only other driver in the top 5, was polesitter D.J. Kurtis. The ViperTech team is expecting that the BFM and FBR cars are going to be a serious challenge later on in the race. ViperTech has become the third best team on the track in practice. However, ViperTech is a good two tenths of a second behind the speed that the Toyota and Lexus cars have done. Considering that BFM and FBR have roughly the same car, with a different body shell on it, they will be considerably close to each other on the track.

FBM and FBR just stick to the track and are running quick all weekend. Got to give credit especially after battery problems. Expect them up at the front mid race or quicker. However, for Reddit Davis a solid weekend is what we're looking for especially for Eric who has had problems as a backmarker this season.

Rowe: Solid top 5 finish after starting towards the rear of the field.

Arndt: We led a lot of laps, but once again, due to other people's problems, we were taken out in a wreck. This is getting annoying having good runs ruined by others who can't keep their nose clean.

Davis: We weren't expecting much going into this race, but through attrition, we got ourselves another Top 15 finish. Sadly, Freeze wasn't able to finish the race though. Meanwhile, We are pleased by the improvements out of Eric Monaco. We'll see in Oklahoma if this trend continues.

Yep Mr. Davis is right couldn't finish the race, but at least Eric was solid with great persevereance throughout the race helps his confidence

16th. Back into the top 30 in points.

Noah Hart: I can't believe the drivers coming into this series thinking 5 wide is acceptable. People driving way over their heads ended our day. We have a long season ahead of us now putting ourselves in a hole in the points. Just got to push forward in these next few races.

Scott Roush didn't talk at all to the media, he did however get crowned the radio sweetheart for the race after the incident he had. Many many expletives were said

Sykes: 2nd & 5th, A Very Productive race here at Phoenix. Really Proud of Kurtis [2nd] Battling in the end with Kyle; a very nice race for Rowe[5th] As Well!

Alan Jobe released a statement today, here is what he said in the statement, venting some frustration "...Poor effort today. We need something to go our way. We have Touring cars ready to go in case we need to go to our 'Plan B' if it is bad enough throughout the rest of the season..."

Kurtis: "Thank god we got out of there in one piece after all, solid effort today."

J. Kurtis: "We struggled with our cars today, but we'll keep working on them."
