Sony Cup Series Thinking About A Mod Change In 2017.

The Original Cup Mod has been the mod for quite some time. It is pretty special to the SCS for many of the SCS Seasons the original cup mod has hosted as the carset. However, after next year with it being the 2nd year straight of the Original Cup Mod, the SCS is testing unknown carsets and mods seeing what could possibly be a new carset in 2017. Silly Season for 2017 isn't expected until very late 2016, the SCS wants to be prepared in announcing the carset for 2017 by August of 2016. Opinions and ideas from the public will be taken into consideration as we seek and test many different types of cars.


Again, we see nothing wrong with the original cup mod, it is an awesome mod. However, we are open to anything new for the series. We are looking to see if there is anything that'll refresh the series with something NEW and exciting. If nothing strikes us we may stick with the familiar and iconic mod we have now.

2000 Cup Mod?

Nope, Too Bulky for the SCS. Maybe COT or Cup10, Possibly even BR10.

Me and Noah talked earlier this season about it. He would like to do BR13 or BR15 but it would take a lot of finagleing to get the cars to run just right. We were looking at BR10 or BR11 though then moving to BR15 in 2018 but both of these ideas are very far away. It still isn't 2016.

I'm looking at everything honestly. From BR11, BR12, Gen6, Old Nascar Mods, Sport Cars, Muscle Cars, anything is up in the air. Something nice looking that provides great racing without much lag is what im gunning for.

SCS and AES might be using the same mod...

Well, this is a difficult choice. I'm thinking, go with something that still gives you the SCS feel. So, like don't do really old cars (anything under 2000), sports cars, muscle cars. That's just my opinion though.

Br2016 would be cool as they look sweet, the damage physics and performance just aren't as good.

2000 Cup Mod, CoT, those two are ones I've liked. Especially CoT w/ that big-donkey wing on the back. I think the look cool and they still have Toyota as a manufacture

Please, Don't do Gen6..I really regret switching to it for my next VCS Season..

the muscle cars and sports cars are the closest thing to the original cup mod and it looks like it could pull off the SCS feel very well. I feel like Gen6 or 2011-2012 could do well but they are kinda laggy and I am really eyeing the two mods of sportsman and muscle cars. 2011-2012 and Gen6 is being looked at as well. I'm not looking at the 90s at all cause that isn't SCS feel...

The S17 cars are 90s cars and they were the ASA mod I will NOT be using that again! Because that isn't SCS feel. The sportsman and muscle cars im looking at look like street cars, they look very very nice. Sorta kinda similar to the original cup mod but not really. They look more like something you'd see on the road. Lots of testing is going to have to happen and Gen6 and BR11-12 is a bit laggy too and I wouldn't mind moving up to a SAFER car but if we can make our cars look more fancy looking and more nice and sorta stick close to actual RACECARS then I might go that route! Original Cup Mod isn't out of the question for sure but there is lots of options. Long time to decide on the mod though.

Okay personal thoughts here. Shane is planning on running the MCLM/Whelen Euro Mod for DWSR. So there will be a series with that Mod. CoT templates are horrendous, but I'm able to use them. So here is my idea, and it expands till 2020.
2017 NNC07 or NNS08
2018 BR11 or BR12
2019 ^
2020 BR15 or (newer)

I Agree. It would Make Sense to progress into the newer mods after some "Scientific Breakthroughs" That would allow such cars, Although I've never seen the NNCO7 Mod.

I feel like it could be a better idea as this can go.

2017-NNS08 or NNC07
2018-Gen6 15
2019-2020+ -MCLM

The MCLM mod is a pretty future like model in my opinion. Maybe within the time of the Gen6 15, we could add more manufacturers into the SCS just like a return for BMW. And with the MCLM mod, there is ALOT from Pontiac, to Mercedes-Benz, Audi, even a lot of newer stuff from Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota. Just my idea.

Now it would make more since for us to jump from NNC07/NNS08 to MCLM/Whelen Euro than from BR15 to MCLM.

But yet, with the cars just staying with the Chevys, Fords, Dodges, and Toyotas, ...It might explain why the jump.
