Mixed Results Unfold at Daytona, Kurtis Racing Nears Victory

#14 Jerry Guerra
Started: 38th
Finished: 2nd

#39 Justin Roberds
Started: 4th
Finished: 16th

Daytona qualifying had some mixed runs for the new team. Justin Roberds qualified a strong 4th, while Jerry Guerra qualified near the tail end of the field in 38th. As the race started, both cars were running really solid and kept with the pack. A big one near the later stages collected Roberds and it was up to Guerra to take over for the team. The #14 was close to winning the team's first race before a pass by Gallighan rallied them to the runner up position.

Roberds Finishes Strong, Guerra Struggles at Savannah

#14 Jerry Guerra
Finished: 17th (R2)

#39 Justin Roberds
Finished: 9th (R1)

Encountering the first short track of the season, both drivers came into the race hoping to keep clean cars and stay out of trouble. It worked. For Roberds, he got himself a top 10 after having to fight his way up there. Guerra on the other hand qualified near the back and remained there, finishing 17th.

Wild Finish at Charlotte Leaves Kurtis Racing with Satisfactory Finishes

#14 Jerry Guerra
Started: 14th
Finished: 3rd

#39 Justin Roberds
Started: 24th
Finished: 17th

Qualifying proved a bit better as Guerra managed to qualify into the top 15, while Roberds qualified in 24th. Both drivers made their way up to the front in the race. But when race leader H.J. Ponder collided with Nick Mace, it set off a huge crash, collected Roberds as well. Guerra avoided the carnage and finished 3rd, while Roberds was relegated down to 17th.

Kurtis Racing Cars Finish Inside the Top 10 at Kansas

#14 Jerry Guerra
Started: 3rd
Finished: 6th

#39 Justin Roberds
Started: 36th
Finished: 8th

Qualifying proved to have mixed results yet again as Guerra qualified near the front row in 3rd, while Roberds qualified in the rear of the field, which was 36th. The race then happened. Guerra stayed around the top 10 to top 15 range throughout the whole event. Roberds charged his way from the 36th position all the way up to the lead at one point, leading some laps for the team. As the 2nd half of the race commenced, both drivers got collected into some late race incidents. The team quickly repaired the cars and both wound up in the top 10.

After Strong 2017 with a Championship, 2018 Brings a Good Start in the HNS

Dylan Schwallenberg came out of the 2017 HNS Season as a champion, and with drivers Jake West and Cory Williams to fill the HNS seats for 2018, they didn't disappoint at Daytona.

West came out as the winner at Daytona, and Williams, who started on pole, finished comfortably in 6th. Both look for a strong season and to potentially win a championship.

#4 Jake West - 1st
#14 Cory Williams - 6th

On the SCS side, Dylan Schwallenberg made the race by transferring in the Duels, but Hernandez wasn't as lucky as he was caught up in an early accident, taking him out of contention.

Schwallenberg would unfortunately finish 32nd after experiencing issues under caution.

#8 Schwallenberg - 32nd
#4 Hernandez - DNQ

Rockingham Filled with Mixed Results

Over in the HNS side, Kurtis Racing found a mixture of speed. While Cory Williams would move upwards in the pack, West would drop back further on in the run. Fuel strategy was fundamental and Williams ended up just short. West recovered and got a top 5.

#4 Jake West - 5th
#14 Cory Williams - 13th

On the SCS side, similar to Daytona, Schwallenberg made the race, this time on speed, while Hernandez continued to struggle. Schwallenberg was up to the top 20 at some point, but pit stops relegated him back further down.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 29th
#4 Luis Hernandez - DNQ

California Brings Solid Results for Kurtis Racing

Over on the HNS side, both West and Williams qualified near the mid pack to top 10 range. As the race progressed, both cars climbed their way upwards to the pack. West dominated a majority of the race and ended up winning. Williams would climb to a top 10 after a lengthy pit stop and traffic.

#4 Jake West - 1st
#14 Cory Williams - 7th

Unfortunately, Dylan Schwallenberg failed to qualify for the race, but Luis Hernandez instead made the race. The #4 looked promising early on, but faded to what was a 28th place finish.

Vegas Brings in Fast Results for Kurtis Racing

The Hardee's National Series headed down to Las Vegas, in which Cory Williams and Jake West continued to showcase their speed throughout. West remained in the top 10 for a majority of the race, but Cory Williams marched his way forward and took the lead away from Hannah Allen in the 1st stint. Afterwards, he never looked back, and Williams ended up winning the race, with West picking up a 5th place finish after pit stops.

#14 Cory Williams - 1st
#4 Jake West - 5th

SCS brings little luck for Kurtis Racing at Baerfield

Going into Baerfield, both cars had a solid shot at making the main event, but both would end up just short despite avoid the vast amounts of chaos throughout their individual heats. Even so, they still got points nonetheless, helping them in owner's points.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 14th (in Heat 2), awarded 25th place points
#4 Luis Hernandez - 16th (in Heat 1), awarded 31st place points

Kurtis Racing find speed in Springfield, but find struggles at New Hampshire

Both cars in Springfield showcased some good speed out of both cars, but Hernandez would suffer issues during the race, while strategy would put Schwallenberg into a top 10.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 7th
#4 Luis Hernandez - 26th

Despite both cars making it in the race, both cars lacked speed throughout the event and finished near the back half of the field.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg: 33rd

Cleveland and Pocono provide mixed results for Kurtis Racing in the SCS

Even with both cars making the field in both races, both cars proved to showcase mixed results. Cleveland showed promise for Schwallenberg before he was swept up in an accident, relegating him down to 30th at the end.
Pocono proved disastrous as both cars finished near the back of the pack with little speed.

Cleveland:
#4 Luis Hernandez - 18th
#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 30th

Pocono:
#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 34th
#4 Luis Hernandez - 37th

Kurtis Racing continues to remain consistent in the HNS

In the round of Darlington, both showed signs of being competitive, but an accident would knock Cory Williams out of the race. West ran a quiet race throughout Darlington, and would end up 6th.

#4 Jake West - 6th
#14 Cory Williams - 34th

For Road America, both cars qualified up front. Though they did not dominate the race, they would both get excellent finishes inside the top 5 to help themselves in the points standings.

#4 Jake West - 3rd
#14 Cory Williams - 5th

HNS success still evident, but some mixed results

After the round of Talladega, Kurtis Racing struggled throughout, and both cars would finish outside the top 10.

Gateway proved to be a step in the right direction, as both cars would finish relatively well inside the top 5

#14 Cory Williams - 3rd

As for Nashville, West's championship hopes took a hit when the car suffered issues and would finish the race in 41st, while Cory Williams would have another solid run.

#4 Jake West - 41st

Kurtis Racing gradually getting better in the SCS

Despite Hernandez missing some races still, both drivers have been getting some solid results as of recent. Richmond showed the team being in the mid pack area.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 25th
#4 Luis Hernandez - DNQ

Talladega proved to be a good race for Schwal, as he would get a solid top 20 finish.

#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 17th
#4 Luis Hernandez - DNQ

In Charlotte, both cars continued to run near the midpack section, and got themselves top 30s in the process.

#4 Luis Hernandez - 23rd
#8 Dylan Schwallenberg - 26th

Road Atlanta was a wild card for both cars, as they had experience at the road courses. Schwallenberg would run within the top 15 before fuel strategy came into play, ruining their chances. Hernandez would chill in the top 20 and remain there throughout.

Kurtis Racing had promise for both drivers, but provided mixed results yet again. Schwallenberg would qualify 17th, but would drop out of the race early to get a dismal 40th. Hernandez started near the back, but kept his nose clean and would get a 15th place finish.

The race itself proved to be chaotic, especially on the restarts. Jake West would chill around the top 10 throughout a majority of the event, while Williams would struggle to reach the top 10. West's run has helped him gain some momentum on TJ Martin, as he is trying to retake the points lead.

Schwallenberg continues to impress in the Sony Cup Series

When the Kurtis Racing duo reached Kansas, they found is as a solid opportunity to try and gain some momentum in terms of their speed. Dylan Schwallenberg made it to Q3 and would qualify in the top 10, exceeding expectations for the team. Hernandez struggled in qualifying, but would still manage to make the race despite that. Throughout the first stint, Schwallenberg hung onto the pack of frontrunners. During the 2nd stint, the race proved to be chaotic, with a majority of the typical front runners being taken out in massive pileups. Schwallenberg and Hernandez would avoid the carnage, and the #8 would lead a bunch of laps throughout the event. Schwallenberg would get a career best 3rd place finish as well as a rookie point, with Hernandez finishing inside the top 20.

Schwallenberg remains strong, Hernandez struggles

Daytona was a hit and miss in the opening round for the 2018 season, so the Kurtis Racing team took precautions and wanted to prevent such issues. Schwallenberg would continue to showcase his speed by making it to Q3, qualifying 12th. Hernandez wasn't as fortunate, but would barely make the race. An early wreck took out Hernandez, ending his day. For Schwallenberg, he stayed in the main pack throughout the race, until lapped traffic kicked in and he fell back, just short of another top 10 finish, but with another rookie point. The finish itself has moved Schwallenberg to 24th in the points standings, and many have been noticing the performance the startup SCS team has been getting recently, especially with Schwallenberg.

Hernandez and Schwallenberg survive carnage, but Hernandez finishes

Luis Hernandez impressed a majority of the race fans by qualifying into Q3, while Schwal would struggle and qualify in the 19th position.

However, Sebring proved to be a chaotic event, and both cars escaped through the mass amounts of carnage throughout. Both cars were quietly running inside the top 5, but Schwallenberg would suffer mechanical issues not of his doing, dropping him down the order. Hernandez would cruise home to a 3rd place finish, giving himself Rookie of the Race. Both drivers have had a best career finish of 3rd place.

Both Kurtis Racing cars would experience a lack of speed throughout the race. Another bad race for Schwal, Hernandez continues to impress

Canadian Tire proved to be mixed for both drivers. Hernandez would qualify well into Q3, while Schwallenberg would qualify near the back of the field. Unfortunately, things got worse when the #8 got into John Arndt, sending both of them into the tire barrier, and out of the race. Hernandez would have a quiet race and would finish just short of the top 10, but earned himself another "Rookie of the Race" point as a result.
