Luke Martin will race in the 2018 Sony Shootout
Luke Martin announced 2017 would be his final year in racing earlier this year but during the past month Martin has been working behind the scenes with son TJ Martin and United Emirates Racing trying to help get the team ready and prepared for TJ to take over in both the Cup level.
United Emirates Racing needed one driver to start in the 2018 Daytona 500 and Martin agreed to give it one more shot behind the wheel as Martin has never won the Daytona 500. It'll be his 21st attempt in the 22nd Annual Daytona 500.
Since Martin has agreed to be the driver during speedweeks and with Martin being qualified for the Sony Shootout, Martin has agreed to also race in the 2018 Sony Shootout, a race where Martin has won twice in his career. Martin will look to end his career on a high as he looks for his 3rd Sony Shootout win and his first ever Daytona 500 victory.
