Rounds of Texas & Michigan to feature restrictor plates

After much concern about the speeds at the Texas Motor Speedway and the Michigan International Speedway. After many attempts to curb the speeds without altering the racing action. And after many attempts to try and make the cars safer, ARCSOA has taken the radical option of adding restrictor plates to these two races.

ARCSOA Competition director, William Williams stated, "We have to find some way to keep the racing exciting while lowering the speed. Restrictricting the engines are the only way to do it."

It is expected that these two tracks will see flat out racing, where the cars and drivers will be using draft to try and work their way forward.

"We do not expect these races to be like Daytona or Talladega," Williams stated. "We expect them to be more spread out than that."

Auto Club Speedway is the third track with this type of racing. However, Williams made it very clear that for the 14th American 700, restrictor plates will not be used unless something rather serious takes place.
