Penalties Post Race at Kansas

Post by FUEL on June 24th 2018, 11:49 pm

Following the Round of Kansas, a race filled with attrition that started with a big wreck that took out nearly half the field started by lapped car Jordan Davis and Nick Mace tangling in front of the field. Davis cut high into Nick Mace's race line and ended in the leader spinning in front of the field taking out most of the field. Davis, Mace's teammate, was off the pace due to a mechanical failure and was just trying to salvage points until the accident. Davis claimed to have radio issues and didn't notice Mace coming high.

The wreck started a trend of unaware driving for the rest of the race as William Brock and Jeffery Lynn tangled similar in the same spot. Lynn was brought to the SCS Hauler after being caught in what looked to be a fight back in the garage with William Brock as he grabbed him by the shirt collar and had some words. Lynn had blew a tire early and lost a lap but ended up rebounding to get the lap back and into the lead but was taken out.

The race's final dramatic moment came when Carson Scott made a darting move similar to the rest and ended up crashing with lapped car Hayden Kline. This accident handed the lead and the win over to PJ Williams as Williams scored his first win in many seasons.

The SCS Officials have stated that after the race saying, "What happened today is something we never want to see. We harp over this in the driver meetings constantly that slow lap cars must yeild to the leader, must hold a constant line and not be wreckless as the leader comes up to pass. The lapped cars that were off the pace today failed to hold a line as the leaders approached and was wreckless in their actions on track that it ended the day for many teams out there. That type of racing on the track is just unacceptable and we can't be having cars flip heading off into corners at the speeds were going. There is no way you can slow down at these speeds in the corners so when someone just wrecks the leader due to being unaware that is just something we aren't going to stand for."

The SCS Officials have reported that a 20 driver points penalty has been assessed to Jordan Davis, William Brock and Hayden Kline after Kansas due to wreckless driving and failing to yield to the leader. This points penalty is very consistent with the points penalty assessed to both Jesse Turner and Sean Harple last year in 2017 when they were both found to be wreckless during races in 2017. All 3 drivers are put on probation until October.

This points penalty drops Jordan Davis from 10th to 14th in points.

William Brock will drop from 23rd to 25th in points.

Hayden Kline will drop from 45th to 46th in points.
