2018 Round 14: Charlotte

Post by DKurtis on July 25th 2018, 11:04 pm

Watkins Glen showed a ton of action and suspense, as lapped cars were painful for many lead lap cars. Aidan Shepherd stormed his way to his first ever Hardee's National Series win at Watkins Glen after Hannah Allen clashed with lapped traffic late, costing her a shot at the victory. It was Rodriguez Racing's first ever win, which is a big milestone for them.

The drivers now head to the classic Charlotte Motor Speedway, where it's grooves showcase the amount of wear and tear the track has to offer. It will still offer a ton of grip due to the Goodyear tires, but the tire degradation will come into play as drivers will experience cars that will push up the track. TJ Martin and Jake West still remain close, and with Hannah Allen getting into the fray, the championship lead could be up for grabs. Consistency is key in the series similar to that of the Sony Cup Series, and the competition is as close as it has been for quite a while.

Arndt fastest on the grid, CM Racing continuing to showcase dominance

John Arndt has been on a rampage in terms of getting into top 10s, and is currently climbing his way in the points standings as of now. Starting out rough, the youngster has been hungrier as can be, and with the win at Richmond, it has bolstered the confidence and has brought a fire that Arndt has been pursuing, being competitive. The CM driver holding off defending race winner Eric Demax for the pole, CM Racing has continued to showcase their dominance in the series. Alexander Rowe really impressed the crowd by qualifying in the 4th position, which for them is a sensational effort for the team. Watkins Glen winner Aidan Shepherd will start in the 8th position, as he is looking to aim for a late season charge.
