Ryan Griffin To Drive For Martin Motorsports In 2017

The driver line up for Martin Motorsports in 2017 was set with Jeff James, Aaron Taylor, Dom Caps and Cooper Syron but after complications with driver of Cooper Syron of being inactive throughout most of 2016 and also being inactive for meetings with Martin Motorsports, Martin Motorsports had no other choice but to cut the deal with Syron. The 4th car was open this week, Martin Motorsports behind closed doors did not release this information to the public as they wanted to see what options could be available if problems with Syron did not get any better.

Ryan Griffin who has raced in multiple different racing divisions got the call from Martin Motorsports that they were looking for a driver and Griffin has taken interest in SCS and happily took the ride. Ryan Griffin will drive the #11 Irwin Tools and Crown Royal Ford Fusion for Martin Motorsports in 2017. Luke Martin said, "I am very happy to have another very talented rookie on the team. My rookies usually turn out to do great things and I expect nothing less from Griffin. He will be a great asset to the team!"


Griffin will join Dajon Weeks, Scott Roush, Beka Haddix and Aidan Shepherd as the Rookie Of The Year Contenders for 2017. Weeks for Yamp Motorsports and Roush for ARROW Dynamics will no doubt have some competition from Griffin on Martin Motorsports for this title in 2017.

I thought Syron was at Yamp Racing when he got released? Griffin signing is not surprising but a good signing

Syron raced Yamp Motorsports in 2016. He got signed on at a Martin Motorsports for next year but he has been inactive.

Griffin: "I'm very happy Luke [Martin] is giving me this opportunity.  MM has great resources and a great group of talented drivers.  I'm confident that I can add to this organizations success and look for great things going forward."

That moment when I held Weeks back because I knew he had no chance against Zeb or Levi but now he's against Ryan in a Martin car.

I believe we're in for a good show with Ryan Griffin against Dajon Weeks. The coveted title of Rookie Of The Year will be one to watch.

Griffin is going to be the favorite but Weeks has shown in the HNS that he has talent and with him driving for Yamp Motorsports Dajon Weeks will put up a fight with Ryan Griffin for ROTY. It'll be interesting. The other drivers don't have the financial backing to really have a good enough car week to week to be a serious threat for the award but I say ROTY will once again be a good battle.

Good luck to Griffin and the rest of the rookies for 2017. I see Griffin winning a few races next season
