Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Sony Cup Series Officials docked 20 car owner points penalty on all Red Bull cars and 20 driver points on Fitzwater back in Phoenix when Zachary Fitzwater drove into pit wall to bring out a caution to help teammate Sean Perkins get back up to Nick Mace to battle for the win.
SCS Officials made it known they do not like team orders to effect the outcome of the race. Yesterday, Luke Martin was pulling away with the win when Jordan Davis a Mace Enterprises car got in the way and never got out of the way for Luke on the last lap and allowed Nick Mace to catch Martin again. Just like the Pheonix race when the Red Bull's tried to do team orders to win them the race it did not work. If this was team orders by Mace it didn't work. It was called out by our announcer that it could be possible team orders. However, Martin had many other lap car problems during the race. He lost the lead to Mace by a lap car because of Levi Pascoe getting in the way that's what makes this call very tough...
Plus another Mace Enterprises driver Richerd Johnson got in the way of Nick Mace and held him up and allowed Luke Martin to get to his back bumper during the race. So it could of just been a problem with lap cars. The track is very narrow and hard to pass it could be where the lap cars weren't trying to get in the way but it did look fishy with a Mace Enterprises car holding up Martin which helped Nick Mace out, whether it was done on purpose or not we are looking into it. Announcement on our final decision will be said soon.

Kurtis: "Really a hard situation, hope the call is justified at the end."
Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Perkins: Team orders are a part of the sport whether we like it or not. You can ban them all you want, but it still isn't going to change the fact that they are still in everyone's mindset. You can not just erase a collective thought from peoples mind. No one really likes them. When my former team called team orders, I was angry. I didn't need them to go for a win. It unfortunately a matter of the times. The series is going to have to take a hard line on this matter.

Cavy: Team orders is strategy, simple as that, every team should be allowed to use them, simple.

Bobby McGriff (ARC Racing): You must be giving 100% to win and I agree with rules. If a driver is helping a teammate by blocking the leader or your sandbagging then you're not giving it 100%. Now it depends on what Jordan was told when he was driving we don't know. Either way I think the rule should stay in place.

Finguy: "Team Orders are Team Orders. Simple as that. Now that Red Bull and Mace have been caught... Should we be saying this is taboo? No... It's orders. Simple as that."

Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Bishop Jr: When you think about it, those are two completely separate incidents. One involved a driver wrecking his equipment and putting a caution out which changed the entire race. Not just the winner, but the entire race because anything can happen on a restart. Davis just made Martin lose his speed and momentum so Mace could catch up. When penalizing, maybe I'm wrong, but you've gotta look at the severity of the orders. One could've had an affect on the leaders, the other affected the whole race.

Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
SCS Officials: We have made the call that we will not be putting forth a penalty on the Mace Enterprises team. As for the team orders rule, we do not like teams doing stuff in an effort to help out other teammates. We want all drivers to give 100% effort in trying to do the best they can and not try to change the outcome of the race in hopes of helping their teammates we find that cheap and unfair and we want our races as fair and competitive as possible. Lap cars were an issue during the race we felt Davis gave Martin a good chance to get by him down the straight away in the last half of the race and we deemed the call for no penalty on the Mace Enterprises team.
Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Sean: How in the world was that not team orders and what Red Bull did was? I am sorry, I am supposed to be quiet now, but I just can't... This just proves that there is a double standard in this series. Certain teams get held to a higher standard because their drivers are more popular.

Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Noah Hart: Your team did intentionally wreck themselves to cause a caution to help you. If you do look at the video on the straight away Davis ran all the way to the far left of the track and Martin followed him. The track was very thin and hard to pass so I can't say it was there fault. I think the call was right.
Re: Investigating Possible Team Orders By Mace Enterprises
Finguy: "I agree with Noah. Martin followed. That didn't need a penalty. Maybe someone should hide behind the cameras before they pull their head out of their behind again."
