In 2015, we hit a new era for the Sony Cup Series. After 18 seasons of the Sony Cup Series running the season formats, the series needed something new and refreshing. A race a day or even 2-4 races a week was beginning to be tiresome. Thus, came a new era where we decided to jump ship and rename the seasons from Season 19 to 2015. The 2015 season was without a doubt the best season the Sony Cup Series has ever seen, 2016 came off a great year as well but was dampened in excitement over how the championship was decided over a playoff format.

When the series hit the 2015 season, we started having custom cars on the grid. It was the start of something new and made the series stand out a bit more. However, the merge from Season 18 to 2015 Season came off as a very smooth transition. Teams stuck with their similar routes. Mace Enterprises continued to rep the Hendrick look, Turner Fenway took over the Roush Fenway look, while other teams followed suite. We have teams like Cyberton Motorsports, HorizonGroup, Blue Flare Motorsports that stands out in their own little way.

We are trying to make the Sony Cup Series more original when 2018 comes around. This is a message to all team owners, go ahead and get prepared. You will need to make BIG changes or your team might not see the grid for 2018. I did this back in the day when we started the team owner deal in Season 3. Different people would own different teams like Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs. One season, one person would own a team, the next he wasn't an owner. So if this means we might have to let go one of our NASCAR replica teams then we will have to do so. The entire teams can't result in NASCAR rip offs. This is an out of character topic as I tell you the plan I have set for 2018.

I am going to approve teams as they come in. As of now, nobody is guaranteed to be a team owner for 2018. I use to be very strict on the Team Owning stuff and I will be strict for 2018. I will approve your team. If it doesn't pass the guidelines it won't make it onto the grid. This is to purposely distance the series from the NASCAR look of the series.

The Sony Cup Series is based off a Stock Car series like NASCAR, not suppose to look like it. We are different. Notice how I said the series is based off a stock car series LIKE NASCAR, NOT NASCAR but similar to how NASCAR runs.

This step will take some time, we have a handful of teams that have to meet these guidelines and if they aren't met we might see a field count lower than 42 cars heading into 2018.

Make the car numbers on your team original, don't base them off actual NASCAR teams (Mace/Hendrick, Yamp/Yates, Turner/Roush)
Make the sponsors not so much similar to NASCAR. (ex. FUEL Brothers Racing - Interstate Batteries, Gamestop, Home Depot)
I know their will be some sponsors on the grid that are actually in NASCAR but, painters, please make the paint schemes original and not a rip off NASCAR. We aren't going to be completely successful on this transition in 2018 but we are making the step in a new direction for 2018.

Can we continue running our team through 2018? This will likely not be confirmed off the bat, like to see some results, but it's always good to ask early.

Yes sponsors and numbers are alike. We tried our hardest to make them as original as possible though for 2017. You can ask Luke Martin what I said when I started paint in for 2017. "I'm gonna do a lot more original designs this year no more replicas" Even then we already stand apart from all the other series. Other series are using Gen6 or Original Cup. We got BR10. We got the best commentator. As well as a great community. We couldn't stick out more if we wanted too. So 4 teams are almost copy paste of NASCAR who cares.

Things need to be more original, things need to change. People won't like it and you know I'm up for it. But things that need to change are really the painters, and the way the cars look period. Sorry Yamp, like it or not, most of your cars looked ripped from NASCAR itself. I think that what the problem is here that Noah wants to get across is that he doesn't want to look like a NASCAR series. He even said so on the Discord. That means that he just doesn't want to see how others see it. A NASCAR RIPOFF.

I'm not starting drama here. But really. I welcome the change that'll happen. And I hope there will be more changes later on.

We will have a poll on my YouTube Channel for guys who want change, who doesn't. All I know for sure if that, Yamp, your teams you have ownership of need to be let go. Either owned by someone else or shut down because it's not fair for you to own so many teams. I'm ruling it down to only 1 user having 1 team. Most teams I'm wanting to make big changes are, FBR, Mace, Turner, AFRT, Yamp (If you choose to keep that team), Athenian (If you choose to keep that team). The painters, meaning you in particular Yamp will need to really push hard on making them look very different. I think we can make the series look different without making all these dumb changes like random car numbers and what not but the cars themselves need to look completely different. If they somehow look like a NASCAR Team, REDO IT. Same for anyone that does cars next year. Ike does a great job, so does DJ but the Cloud9 cars looked pretty close to FRM (partly my fault) and the 2 and 22 looked a little different. That's what we need. We need the cars to give their own feel to the series. Not a NASCAR feel when people see the cars.

The series runs the NASCAR mods so obviously we may run into this problem but you can fix some schemes and make them original. We have some talented painters, I have all the faith in the world we can make them look different and great at the same time. The number fonts and paint jobs themselves are key factors to fixing the look of the car to give them their own character. I'm hoping we can do that. I'm not going to focus too much on it right now since 2017 hasn't even started but I do want opinions on the situation by liking or disliking the video I am uploading.

First of the fact that we have people complaining that the schemes look like they're from NASCAR is absurd. It's not like your gonna stop watching the series because "they look like they're ripped straight from NASCAR" I did my darnedest to make the cars look orginal while still pleasing the owners. That as well the reason I have 2 teams was compensation for me doing most of the field in 2015 and 2016. ARC was technically never my team it got tied to me though. Same with Wake that was just a continuation of Ravenwest. Also Athenian wasn't suppose to make it out of 2015, but it did because Matt won a race in that car.

Locking this topic, I'll decide in the future what to do with the series in what direction it needs to go in. Right now lets focus on 2017.
