Charlie Smith signed on by Jeff James Inc. for 2018
After 2 years with Athenian Motorsports and not finishing up the standards the team wanted, Smith found himself on the outside looking in when it came to Silly Season drama but Charlie Smith landed in potentially one of the top teams for next year!
Jeff James Inc. (JJI) will be fielding a 2 car team next year which will be the sister team to Mace Enterprises. Mace Enterprises will be providing engines and support to JJI in 2018 which Jeff James as the owner-driver for the team and the 2nd car being driven by Charlie Smith.
This news is one that's shocked a bit of Silly Season skeptics however it is rumored this offer came up due to Charlie Smith's success in Hardee's National Series and being one a Chevy driver for the past few seasons. Charlie Smith will be set with a team that's expected to get a lot of help from one of the best teams. This could open the door wide open for Smith to have the opportunity to have a break through year in 2018.
