BREAKING NEWS: PJ Williams to Retire at Season's End
PJ Williams has certainly had a successful career. With two wins and the Season 2 championship under his belt, the 30 year old has plenty to be proud of. And now, he's decided that what he's done is good enough.
After a mediocre Season 4 without much success to speak of, Infinity Motors announced that they would not be renewing Williams' contract for Season 5. Coming to the Indy weekend, Williams has decided that he will not be searching for a new drive, and will be hanging up the helmet at season's end. After the previous year's disaster in IES and his mediocre results in the current season, the Texan felt that he was past his prime. He also said that after his disastrous IES campaign in Season 3, he was ready to quit back then, but Infinity Motors motivated him to keep driving. And now that they've decided to part ways, he believes the time is right to move on and pursue other passions in his life.
Williams was one of the few Slim Jim Series drivers that have raced since the first season. His former teammate Will Lewis also recently announced retirement, which likely got him thinking about it. Lewis and Williams are two well loved members of the Slim Jim Series, and their presence will be missed.
