DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen Empty Re: DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen

Post by nhood53 on March 16th 2019, 11:54 am

Lap 1: Wallace leads the field to the green, Nick Pericles falls into line through 1.
Lap 3: One of the teams looking strong early on is the 99 of Bubba Martin, he has already cracked the top 10. The ViperTech brigade also has both cars in the top 10 early on.
Lap 5: Scott Parsons dives up the inside in Turn 1, takes the lead as they enter the kink.
Lap 6: Nearly contact between Pericles and Parsons as Wallace retakes the lead.
Lap 7: Back and forth they go for the lead, Parsons takes it back, Pericles all over Wallace.
Lap 8: Wallace gets the lead, this time Pericles is also going to shuffle out the 24, now he's outside the top 5 as Johnson, Jones, and Perdo are by.
Lap 11: Mark Jones to the lead by his teammate Wallace.
Lap 13: Wallace back to the lead with the assist from Mackenzie Johnson.
Lap 15: New leader: Nick Pericles.
Lap 18: Mark Jones takes the lead back after an extensive battle with Pericles. His teammate Smith is in tenth.
Lap 20: One thing's for sure: Nick Pericles is a force to be reckoned with, he won't give up this lead to Jones easily, they've been fighting hard the last 4 laps.
Lap 22: Mackenzie Johnson down pit road. Contact between Jones and Pericles in the bus stop while still fighting for the lead as they also concede their battle to pit road. Bubba Martin stays out to lead a lap.
Lap 25: Bubba Martin takes the lead after pit stops, but he has a charging Mark Jones behind him, who takes the lead easily through 1.
Lap 29: Bubba Martin to the lead, he's got Wilson Wallace and Pedro chasing him now.
Lap 30: Wallace to the front, a move to the inside by Martin in 6 leads to Hierra going to second.
Lap 32: Mark Jones goes back out front, Bubba Martin to second after some contact between he and Wallace.
Lap 34: FullThrottle Racing is 1-2-3 at the moment, Darren Webber is going to break that up inside of Bubba Martin for third.
Lap 35: Wilson Wallace to the lead with Webber up to second. Correction: Jones stays in second as caution is out! Ryder Smith made some contact with Andrew Knight in a battle for 18th, then Tyler Ferreya came up and booted both of them off track in Turn 6! Also collected was Harrison Lankford who will be at least 1 lap down after being stuck in the gravel.

DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen Empty Re: DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen

Lap 37: Darren Webber leads the field off pit road with Jones in second.
Lap 38: Webber pulls away as they are three wide in the pack multiple rows deep on the start, thankfully it all got settled down.
Lap 40: Harrison Lankford's crew did a good job to get him back out on the lead lap, he's in 26th battling Goforth, Hanson, Nawasaki, and Hogg.
Lap 42: Darren Webber has three whole seconds on Craig Jacobs in second. Meanwhile, shout out to Chris Claridge inside the top 20, as well as Jacob Long!
Lap 51: William Duncan finally caught and passed Webber for the lead. Also, nice run for Mike Alladore in thirteenth.
Lap 52: Darren Webber takes the spot back away from Duncan.
Lap 54: After Webber pulled out another huge lead, Bubba Martin just passed him in the kink for the top spot.
Lap 55: Duncan back to the lead by Martin.
Lap 56: Craig Jacobs just went from 4th to the top spot in less than a half lap.
Lap 58: Caution is out at the beginning of the lap. Pedro Hierra moved over and made contact with William Duncan, sending him into teammate Ren Fukuda. Mark Jones hit him in the rear, possibly ending Mark's great day. Behind them, Jones came across the front end of Roethlisberger, forging a 4 wide situation and sending Sven wrecking into Leigh Lagasse.
Lap 60: Steven Wallace stayed out under the caution with Christian Merrick Sr., they pitted before the caution came out. First car off pit road was Craig Jacobs, he restarts in third. Hierra is fourth, followed by Pericles, Parsons, Wallace, Ferreya, Tyquan Jacobs, and Yarbough. Green is out!
Lap 62: Wallace and Merrick have pulled away using a strategy referred to as "share DRS." It is the same thing which the brigade led by Dimundi and Jake Moss used to get away in the Cup race yesterday.
Lap 66: I'm not sure about the fuel mileage on the 8 and 7 cars. Whoever is in front of the other group might win the race, and right now that is Craig Jacobs, followed by Pericles.
Lap 68: Pericles to third, but he is 7 seconds behind Wallace.
Lap 71: Here's another shout out to Harrison Lankford, the outside polesitter. He is back up inside the top 15 after being involved in the lap 35 crash and almost going a lap down!
Lap 78: Merrick Sr. pits from second, move Jacobs up to P2. John Jacobs is in third!
Lap 79: Wallace has to pit! Now Craig Jacobs in the lead, three laps to go, all he has to do is hold off Yarbough and John Jacobs!
Lap 79: Yarbough to the lead.
Lap 80: John Jacobs to second, but now he must close a near-insurmountable lead by Yarbough.
Lap 81: Off Turn 7, Yarbough holds off the Jacobs brothers to win at Watkins Glen!

DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen Empty Re: DDS Round 5 of Watkins Glen

Post by nhood53 on March 27th 2019, 10:52 pm

After the DDS race, an erroneous penalty was given to driver #16,Pedro Hierra. The officials made a ruling of suspect intentionality on a crash that occurred on lap 58 that knocked 4 of his teammates to the rear. After a discussion with driver Pedro Hierra's team owner and a review of more video replay angles, it was ruled that the penalty was erroneous and that Pedro's penalty would be overturned. The error: too few camera angles used in the initial analysis to determine cause.

To Pedro, your appeal is accepted.

(OOC: To Duncan, sorry for wasting your time on this. I'll admit this was a rookie mistake, making a big ruling like this based on just the chopper cam.)
