DDS Round 6 of Pikes Peak Empty Re: DDS Round 6 of Pikes Peak

Post by nhood53 March 28th 2019, 8:04 pm

Lap 1: Wilson Wallace leads the first lap as the Kruger teammates go at it for second.
Lap 4: Kyle Patterson clears Todd LeGare and now will go after the 98.
Lap 11: Mackenzie Johnson takes second after an aggressive 3 wide pass surprisingly stuck on the dueling Kruger teammates.
Lap 13: The ever-aggressive Pedro Hierra is the fastest car in the top 10, now he assists his teammate LeGare in passing the 65.
Lap 17: Pedro up to third by the 65. Man, does that car ever rotate through the center of the corner.
Lap 19: New leader: Pedro Hierra. He will be GONE by the time Aidan Shepherd clears LeGare.
Lap 34: Pedro has not really pulled away, the gap his remained at about 1.5 car lengths between he and second place Wilson Wallace. Matt Preston is thirs, followed by Parsons and Bubba Martin.
Lap 40: Wilson Wallace retakes the lead from Hierra. Parsons is there also to take second from Hierra, then Preston and Martin take him three wide as he gets stuck out of line and is forced to the rear.
Lap 49: Scott Parsons takes the lead from Wallace, Matt Preston sitting in third looking to start the freight train.
Lap 52: Caution is out for the first time. Steven Wallace forced Todd LeGare and Aaron DeVille three wide. DeVille did not give him enough room causing all three of them to go into the wall along with an innocent Ryan Yarbough.
Lap 56: Restart. Matt Preston will lead the first lap back green, new contenders have emerged such as John Jacobs and the 38 of Phil Montgomery.
Lap 62: 1/5 of the way home in this event, Phil Montgomery to the lead. Patterson three wide for second, Hierra has found his way back into the top 5.
Lap 67: Kruger Racing goes 1-2 with Patterson leading and Hierra behind. Duncan is also up front in the 4th spot. Fukuda is in the mid-pack and LeGare has damage from the crash.
Lap 74: Hierra takes another lap led. Hard battling side by side between teammates, just hope it does not end in disaster like at Watkins Glen.
Lap 82: Kyle Patterson back out front, Katie Anderson up to thirs (remember she won at a similar layout track at New Hampshire last season as a GOGH driver)
Lap 89: Hierra back out front. Craig Jacobs going for third on Anderson.
Lap 93: Patterson back by Hierra. Note that many drivers received damage on pit road, including Aaron Deville, Sven Roethlisberger, Tyquan Jacobs, Mark Jones, and Tyler Ferreya.
Lap 99: Hierra to the lead, Anderson now looking for second or correction, they're 3 wide, here comes Craig Jacobs!
Lap 105: Barton Enterprises with a great run as Long sits in fifth.
Lap 110: Pit stops begin with Hierra. Patterson leads a lap, as does Anderson and Luchon.
Lap 112: Ren Fukuda stays out to lead a lap. Luchon runs out of fuel.
Lap 112: Chris Claridge hits the pit wall. No caution.
Lap 114: Craig Jacobs to the lead, Hierra sits in second, Patterson third with Anderson fourth and John Jacobs fifth.

DDS Round 6 of Pikes Peak Empty Re: DDS Round 6 of Pikes Peak

Post by nhood53 March 28th 2019, 9:00 pm

Lap 118: Pedro Hierra gets the assist from Patterson to take the lead back from Jacobs.
Lap 124: Few career best runs to acknowledge: Long in 7th, James in 8th, Munari in 9th.
Lap 132: Kyle Patterson passes Pedro for the lead, it's a 4 car battle right now.
Lap 151: Halfway. Patterson leads over Craig Jacobs, Katie Anderson, Pedro Hierra, and William Duncan.
Lap 166: Craig Jacobs leads lap 166, Anderson makes the pass to lead lap 167, Jacobs then stays out in order to lead more laps.
Lap 169: First laps led for Harrison Lankford today occur on lap 169. Long stays out to lead lap 171, the first laps led in Jacob Long's career.
Lap 173: Lead transfers back to Pedro Hierra. Montgomery now in the lead pack as well.
Lap 186: Early leader Todd LeGare goes a lap down.
Lap 204: Under 100 to go, Hierra's blistering pace has left 6 drivers a lap down: Tyquan Jacobs, Todd LeGare, Matt Preston, Sven Roethlisberger, Nick Pericles, and Aaron DeVille.
Lap 210: Add to the lap down list the 22 of Robbie Johnson.
Lap 223: Phil Montgomery leads a lap, as does Katie Anderson.
Lap 225: Craig Jacobs takes the lead after Katie Anderson spent 2 laps out front.
Lap 227: Lankford back out front, he'll be the last one to pit. This strategy might work out for Lankford, he'll have to make 70 laps, but many people have been getting 65 laps, si it's definitely possible for Lankford.
Lap 231: Pedro Hierra back to the front. This will be the final fuel run of the race and Hierra has a huge lead over Montgomery in second.
Lap 253: Phil Montgomery is closing in on Pedro after Pedro got shuffled out by a few lapped cars.
Lap 275: Pedro has pulled back to a 4 second lead.
Lap 279: Phil Montgomery leads a lap.
Lap 280: Craig Jacobs stays out to lead a lap.
Lap 283: Aidan Shepherd leads his first lap.
Lap 285: Ren Fukuda stays out and leads his first laps.
Lap 287: Pedro takes the lead back after the last pit cycle, Craig Jacobs has 13 laps to close 3.4 seconds.
Lap 289: Craig is losing ground. He needs a caution to get back in this race now.
Lap 300: Pedro proves he did nothing wrong at Watkins Glen by putting on a dominant performance and winning at Pikes Peak!

Post Race Notes:
- Only one caution in the race.
- Pedro's win today was one of only 2 times this season so far to have the winner lead the most laps, and the first winner this year to lead over half the race (the other case was Matt Preston at AKMP)
- New points leader in Wilson Wallace as Darren Webber drops to third in points
- John Jacobs knocking on the door of the top 10 in points after starting the season without a full-time guarantee
- Jacob Long, Mike Alladore rebound into the top 35, Katie Anderson finally gets inside the top 35 for the first time in her career
- Cody Goforth, Ryder Smith, Chris Claridge relegated to GOGH status after poor finishes at PPIR.
- Next race, the DDS heads to Bristol for its second stand-alone weekend. This is the DDS's Bristol debut, last season's CTRS race saw fireworks between Lafter Stucole and Benoit Lothaire Irvine, will the DDS see the same? Or will a calm race like this one ensue?
