When you realize Landon Cassill could win Bristol...

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
So many good underdog stories. Cassill leads 20 laps. Jr. gets 2nd after his car stalls at the green flag. Elliott gets 4th. Bayne gets his first top 5 since his '500 win. Dibenedetto gets 6th. And Bowyer finishes 8th.
Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Yeah, when I heard that Bowyer was in the top 10, I was like, "WHAT, BOWYER IN THE TOP 10??!!!" And man, could you imagine if JR would have found a way to win the race? We'd be talking about that 20 years from now like when Bill Elliott came back from 3 laps down at Talledega, or that crazy race where McMurray got like 6 lucky dogs... Just insane!

For once, I have to admit that NASCAR beat the pants of the IndyCar race which was terribad!

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
I think that for some reason this low downforce package may actually be doing more on short tracks than on the 1 1/2 mile tracks. The cars are using a ton more brake, and combined with the softer tire compounds, they are making even the best of drivers have big time trouble...

I definitely agree.DKurtis wrote:Not gonna lie, the Bristol race was one of the best I've seen in a while.
I also have a new respect for DiBenedetto after that emotional interview. That just shows how a 6th place mightn't mean a lot to some but for people on teams like BK it means a lot to them. I bet Clint Bowyer was really happy after that race as well, doing shit all year and finished Bristol with a top 10. Landon Cassill should've also been proud of himself, led 20 laps and stayed in the top 10 for about a quarter of the race. Sucks he finished 22nd because of the whole Ty Dillon x Landon Cassill incident.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
This was the first time in almost a year I think that I watched an entire Cup race. Thoroughly enjoyed it too. Between this and the F1 race, not too bad of a race weekend.
Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
So we are all agree, NASCAR just proved that they still can have underdog moments and everyone has a chance that is not a SS or a RC.

It's crazy to think that for once NASCAR(according to many of you) finally did something right... I guess that means we need to drive at Bristol every week then LOL!
In seriousness, I hope they keep tweaking with the downforce and working on the tire combinations to make the racing even better...

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Weird that it is a surprise Clint Bowyer got a Top 10, the irony is that his run matches the team's career best cup run with Allgaier finishing in the same exact position in the same exact event 1 year ago.
Dibenedetto and Cassill continue to shine and all we can do is hope they both get better rides they deserve. Shame Cassill's run got derailed though, I had a really bad feeling given the circumstances of the restart that took an otherwise great run for him and opportunity to get even more noticed away.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Cause the race was good. Probably because a lot the "big boys" got out of contention for the race which left spots for lower tier drivers to step in a get their well deserved finishes. If all races were like this I'd be happy.CJ Racing wrote:It's crazy to think that for once NASCAR(according to many of you) finally did something right... Hell, I even enjoyed the Xfinity race at Bristol. And I have a hatred against that series.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
From what I heard about the XFinity race, one of the possible reasons why the race was better than usual is that even though the heat races where boring, it gave them an additional opportunity to work on their cars, and to "practice" with a large group of drivers. It may not have been NASCAR'S intention, but it may have worked out after all...

Yeah, aside from Xfinity the cup race was killer!
Onto a new rhymed topic: yay or nay with Richmond in the day?

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Wait and see... It's better for me because I have a higher chance of watching it on a Sunday Afternoon rather than a Sat. Night, but in terms of racing, that remains to be seen. Hopefully the low downforce package can continue to work as it seems to actually be making a difference even on these short tracks.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
I honestly hope Richmond isn't mediocre this year. The ones in the past felt like a snoozefest (excluding 2011 and 2013-2014 spring race).
Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
That was one of the fucking best races this year. Great job Xfinity Series.
I was so happy when Logano crashed, and then Elliott got the win. So many career bests. It was amazing!

Isn't it interesting... Kyle Busch leaves the XFinity Series for 2 months, and now all of a sudden everyone loves the Xfinity Series ...

Elliott's okay but if they would've let them race back Poole would've, and should've, won it. Awesome finish by Clements!McBlair wrote:That was one of the fucking best races this year. Great job Xfinity Series.

I believe NASCAR did the right thing by following their rules. Sure, Poole maybe deserved that win. But, like I said, NASCAR followed their rules instead of letting them fly so Poole could get his first win and that was a job well-done by NASCAR truthly.

They didn't follow all their rules. They let their tandem drafting rule slip. If they did enforce this rule, Brendan Gaughan would've won. It was said at Daytona like in the last few laps they can tandem. It's a little stupid but I'm still stoked about Elliott winning.
