Round 2 of Rockingham
As the Cup Series moves into Rockingham, we are all reminded that this series is one of the hardest, most mentally demanding sports out there as our season has 35 races to go til the season finale. Drivers having goals of the soul purpose of winning the championship, this race is the start of a marathon long season in hopes of winning races. It all starts at Rockingham. This race track wears and tears on tires like sand paper and will have drivers pitting multiple times for 4 sets of Goodyear eagles, a race were pit strategy could be what wins you the race.

Re: Round 2 of Rockingham
Didn't exactly have a spectacular car, plus with that bad-timed caution, it kinda hurt us. But a 19th is okay despite what we were faced with during the race.

Shepherd: Didn't qualify, such a shame. It's just the start of the season, though, so I'm not too worried at the moment.

Re: Round 2 of Rockingham
That last caution saved me big time. Top 25 finish I'll take. Felt bad for Jenkins though. Going to go test the Road Courses now

Finguy: "That yellow helped that top 5. But that's either luck or stupidity. I'll say luck. But once again in the top 25... Once again points. The way points are, let's hope Shelly can get in more races."

Kurtis: "Ran solid today, but we should've been a top 20 car to be honest."
Re: Round 2 of Rockingham
Perkins: Jeffery Lynn is a fricken idiot. But the fact that he pretty much wrecked me ended up helping me. Car still isn't great though, and I still think those leading teams cheat through their rear-end.

Dodd, 21st: "I don't know how, and I don't care how, all I know is that we finished top 25 again, and I'm SO pumped! This #3 DMR/SPYoptic team has been working so hard, and I am so happy to be getting these finishes for them... Let's keep this up!"

Re: Round 2 of Rockingham
Stats regarding the race of Rockingham
- Spoiler:
- Jeff James started 6th and worked his way into the Top 5 by Lap 11, if you don't count pitstops, Jeff James never fell outside the Top 5 for the rest of the race. Leading 66 of the race's 150 laps.
ROTY Candidate, Dajon Weeks won the pole for Rockingham. Weeks is the first rookie this year to win the pole award for a points paying race. Ryan Griffin won the pole for the Daytona Duels but did not win the 500 Pole to count as a points paying race.
Speaking of ROTY Points here it is
1. Dajon Weeks 1
2. Ryan Griffin 1
3. Beka Haddix 0
4. Scott Roush 0
Sean Perkins was the biggest mover if you look where he started and where he finished, Perkins started 37th and finished 10th. Perkins was involved in our first and only caution of the race with Jeffery Lynn and the caution actually kept him on the lead lap when he was a lap down earlier in the race.
Perkins, along with others benefitted with the caution falling in their favor. Some drivers had yet to pit when the caution came out and some drivers a lap down yet to pit found themselves back on the lead lap. Drivers like Carson Scott, Ryan Griffin, James Shelly, Jeffery Finguy and Chris Dodd all gained multiple positions because of it.
Ryan Griffin back to back races to start the year has had engine problems. However the team fixed the issue under the hood on Lap 2, Griffin fought hard all race to keep up with the leaders and Griffin who at one time was 2 laps down came back and finished 8th! A very hard faught top 10 finish and earning 1pt in the ROTY battle tying it up with ROTY rival Dajon Weeks.
Charles Sandfer led the most laps out of any driver, Sandfer led 69 laps only 3 more than winner Jeff James. Only 6 people led a lap all race.
Laps Led From Rockingham
Charles Sandfer 69
Jeff James 66
Eugene Demax 6
Matthew Rodriguez 5
Nick Mace 3
Dajon Weeks 1
The list of drivers who had completed every lap of 2017 has dewendled down to only 13 drivers. Jeff James, Eugene Demax, James Silverfox, Alan Cavagnaro, Nick Mace, Dom Caps, Jesse Turner, Charles Sandfer, Jake Baskinger, Levi Pascoe, Zachary Fitzwater, Jordan Davis and William Brock are all the drivers left who have been on the lead lap at the end of the races so far.
Eugene Demax is tied for the point lead leaving Rockingham, Demax hasn't led the SCS Points in over 7 seasons! Season 14 at Round 17 of Eldora, the next race at Zen Joltis he got caught up in the big one. Leaving the Season 14 Finale to be mainly decided by Nick Mace and Ian Dutta. Nick Mace went on to win the championship.
Charles Sandfer is the first driver this season to have over 100 laps led already in the 2017 Season with 102 laps led on his record after only 2 races... The next guy behind him is Jeff James with 80 laps led.
This season has been hyped up that consistency will mean everything. I'm telling you, the driver with the most top 10s at the end of the season will be fighting for the championship. Only 3 drivers has finished inside the Top 10 in the first 2 races, those drivers are Eugene Demax, Jeff James and Alan Cavagnaro... They all are inside the Top 4 in the points currently.
Top 35 in Owner Points get locked into the races after Round 4... with 2 races left until we start using this years Owner Points we have some big name drivers currently outside the Top 35 and have a long road ahead of them this year if they want to climb to points to battle for a championship. Turner Fenway, Yamp Motorsports, FUEL Brothers Racing, Athenian Motorsports, and Allen Family Racing Team all find themselves with a driver outside the Top 35 in Owner Points struggling to start off the season. Sean Harple, Luke Martin, Jacob Hart, Charlie Smith, and Andreas Allen big name drivers haven't had any luck to start off 2017... Looking for something good heading into Las Vegas.
Speaking of Las Vegas... Who is the driver to look out for going there? We'll lately Jeffery Lynn has been quick there. Finishing in the Top 3 the last 2 races we seen there. Aaron Taylor and Sean Perkins should be able to do something there our winners there in 2016. Nick Mace however looks like the overall favorite as he has 4 victories there, his 1st, 10th, 18th and 20th career victories all came at that track. Many milestones have been hit for Mace at Vegas.
