Aaron Taylor stepping down immediately; Matthew Rodriguez to replace him at Martin Motorsports
Aaron Taylor will no longer serve as the driver of the #60 Ford for Martin Motorsports starting immediately heading towards the Indianapolis 250. Taylor announced a few months back that he will be stepping down from stock car racing to do other things in life and it seems as though Taylor and Martin have agreed on an early release.
Aaron Taylor has been rumored to wanting to start up his own band and be back playing music. While Taylor is stepping down, he's leaving behind a good career he had going in racing. His last race at Atlanta he led the most laps of any driver but had problems at the end that dropped him to 22nd.
Aaron Taylor will have ran 82 races in his career and in those races he won 2 races while gathering 24 Top 10 finishes.
While Aaron Taylor pursues in other careers, Matthew Rodriguez made the move to not return to HorizonGroup after Atlanta. The move at the time seemed odd considering the season had many races left remaining but it seems as though this move to have Rodriguez replace Taylor at Martin Motorsports was under the covers for quite some time now. As Matthew Rodriguez has been named as the replacement driver for Aaron Taylor. Matthew Rodriguez returns to a Ford car for the first time since Season 15. Rodriguez has 6 wins to his name, 4 of those wins came driving for a Ford team. So we'll see if Rodriguez can rise back to the top with Martin Motorsports.
HorizonGroup's #77 car that was being fielded by Matthew Rodriguez had sponsorship from Mobil1 however that sponsor was only being carried on the car because of Rodriguez. HorizonGroup will not be fielding the #77 this coming weekend and the future for the 3rd car at HorizonGroup is unknown while Ike Durbin Inc. will be fielding the #77 with rookie driver in the HNS, Casey Lester attempting to race in the 250.
