This package completely favors the race leader with 10 to go and HMS.

Hey, Denny had a chance, he could have blocked him... But he couldn't

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Coincidentally enough he wins it on the 15th anniversary of Dale Sr.'s fatal crash in the 500.
Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Yep! Saying all that(now that I have calmed down LOL)...
There are a lot of really good cars in this field, including all of the JGR cars, the #4, the Penske brigade, and the #21. Anything can happen, especially in a 500 mile race...
But man, that car is a hotrod!

I don't entirely disagree, although the restrictor plate races aren't so random anymore, which IMO is actually a plus...

...We'll see in the race. Let's just hope there's a big one that leaves the Underdogs in this for once.

NO THANK YOU!!! Could you imagine how much worse that Vickers crash would have been with tandem drafting??? They were already crazy enough as it was, tandem drafting would have just caused more carnage!
Actually I would argue it would be less because the field would be spread further apart. The tandem drafting did cause a lot of wrecks. However those wrecks weren't any worse then anything we have seen with out it. See Austin Dillon at Talladega in 2013 and Dillon again in 2015.
Pretty much now Super Speedway races go like this.
1. Green Flag
2. Hendrick Car leads for 20 laps
3. A JGR car passes the Hendrick
4. Choo Choo train racing
5. Pit stops.
6. Choo Choo
7. Pit Stops
8. Choo Choo
9. Pit Stops
10. Choo Choo
11. Crap Debris yellow
12. Someone jumps the restart
13. Choo Choo
14. Some stupid backmarker like Robert Richardson Jr. wrecks
15. Restart with 20 to go.
16. Choo Choo until 4 to go.
17. Someone tries to make inside work but no one will go with him
18. 2nd place tries something on final lap but fails because package favors leader.
19. Someone way back does something stupid and brings out a yellow
20. DAEL URNHART JEWNYER WINS DA RACE (Redneck Christmas)
In all honesty, I'd be willing to bet that if Dale Jr. was good at the tandem draft we'd still have it today. But the dumbass redneck fans don't care how good the race is because if URNHART wins it is immediately the greatest ever.
For example, lets look at the 1998 Daytona 500. For all intensive purposes, the race was absolute SHIT faced boring. But since URNHARDT won, the race is the best ever.
Lets look at the 2004 Daytona 500. Race started out decent, but was TERRI-BAD at the end. I think they went 120 laps without a caution and there were only 3 cars with a chance to win the race at the end. (JEWNYER, Stewart, and Wimmer) But since DAEL JEWYNER won it, it was the best ever until he actually won a pretty good Daytona 500 in 2014.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
I had something written, but there was no point in it. We'd just keep going back and forth, and it would end up the same way it started, neither of us agreeing with the other. I'll just say let's agree to disagree, OK?
The only thing I will say is that if NASCAR could get the restrictor plate races like they had them in 2014, with the sidedraft and all, that would be the best case scenario...

If they want that to work, they need a package that emphasizes the slingshot.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Yep! Which would be awesome BTW, although it would bring something else you don't like: Blocking!
BTW: It wasn't just the fans that were complaing, even the Talledega SuperSpeedway President complained about it:
http://www.inautonews.com/track-officials-complain-tandem-racing-drove-fans-away-from-talladega
Anyway, I hope they can make the racing for the lead better without changing the way the pack races, and that it allows the drivers to use their talents to win races instead of the car(or cars).

Good action-packed truck race! But geez, that flip on the last lap though.
Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
That was and exciting race but stupid at the same time. Damn Bell took a roll glad his is ok. I would rather seen Truex or Kligerman win last night then Sauter.

Same, watching an entire race just to have Johnny Sauter win again was annoying truthly. But he is a good CWTS driver and there's no denying that.MrKyleBusch1 wrote:That was and exciting race but stupid at the same time. Damn Bell took a roll glad his is ok. Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
Now that was one hell of a finish, I could of sworn Truex Jr had Hamlin but Hamlin just was faster at the line. There was no big one though, and that was the only reason I watched the race xD

I am writing here to say that while I am dissapointed about Dale Jr,, and I'd would have rather seen Truex Jr win, I am glad that it was such a good finish, and that they didn't wreck on the last lap....

Coincidentally Denny Hamlin wins in his 11th try in the 500 in car #11, after starting 11th, and the margin of victory was .011 seconds.

@Dodd, really? Never heard someone say that before. The last lap crashes are what made Superspeedways exciting. Just seeing who would make it out and who would get collected. The durastic flips were exciting as well, because no one got hurt and it added x30000 more action then your typical race. The tandem drafting was also pretty damn good. Because anybody could win, it wasn't the same two well-funded drivers aligned next to eachother for half the race until the action at the end.
Just my opinion though, I guess the only way to bring the bump drafting back is to change the Superspeedways package and the design of the NASCAR's so the bumpers are straighter.

Despite the good finish, race was crap. Cars were racing like they were in NASCAR 15.

Re: NASCAR 2016 Discussion
@Collins: I very much dislike last lap wrecks, and today we saw why, imagine if they would have wrecked coming off of turn 1, we never would have seen that amazing finish.
@F1fan: I actually enjoyed the race, except for the ridiculous amount of commercials. The issue today wasn't the package(which was actually fun to watch from 7th on back), it was the fact that there were 4 Toyota's(5 at the end of the race) who had really good cars that decided to stay together, which didn't allow anyone to make any type of move on the outside. There really isn't a way to change that except through tandem drafting(which is never gonna happen). And I've already stated my opinion about that...
