2016 Formula 1 Series thread
Pre-Season testing notes
-Mercedes is sandbagging the hell out of this.
-McLaren actually looks reliable
-Haas believe it or not doesn't look as bad as I thought they'd be.
-Grosjean had the first incident of the season when his front wing failed. Haas may need to re-do something in there.
-Vettel and Ferrari are fast.
-Manor actually looks like they may compete for something. YAY MERCEDES B-TEAM!
-The back of the grid will be VERY interesting this year, unless Haas becomes kings of the final row.
-This new qualifying system actually isn't half bad. I know I am the only one that likes it.
-The Manor is the best looking car on the grid.
-The Haas looks like the Midland F1 car from 2006. Or Kurt Busch's NASCAR scheme on an F1 car.
-The Ferrari is gorgeous
-The McLaren looks like garbage
-The Mercedes is the exact same scheme from every other year!

Question: What's you definition of "good" F1 racing?? More than one pass for the lead? A race where Mercedes doesn't just blow everyone out of the water? A crash?
Watching F1 racing to me is what most Americans think about soccer.... *yawn*...
"BTW: Great job by Barcelona and Messi, pushing Arsenal to overwork their defense in the 1st half, and then coming strong with an offensive attack late in the 2nd half to score 2 goals and win 2-0!"
..............
Yep, I'm sure that 75% of you just skipped through that....

Good F1 racing doesn't really mean battle for the lead... although it does massively help. Battles throughout the track really help. Mixed and matched weather also can throw a curve into things.

Re: 2016 Formula 1 Series thread
Sorry, but the last F1 race I ever watched was like 3 years ago at Monaco, and they wrecked on the first lap. After that I don't even remember, cause right after that was the Indy 500, which has been absolutely fantastic the last couple of years.

Re: 2016 Formula 1 Series thread
Since I'm a decent sized F1 Fan, almost as much as NASCAR here are my opinions and predictions
Team Predictions:
Mercedes: OP Season Constructors Champs
Ferrari: Great run, better than last season
Redbull: Daniel Ricciardo has a phenomenal season
Williams: Same old same old
McLaren: Has a slump for the next 5 years
Toro Rosso: Same old same old
Renault: Points contending team
Sahara/Aston Martin: Better than ever, will challenge Williams
Haas: Better than Manor
Sauber: No points season, bankrupt maybe
Manor: Slower than my Grandma.
Scheme Reactions
Mercedes: Eh
Ferrari: Like the New white addition to the top part of the livery.
Red bull: Mindblown for the new look
Williams: Eh
McLaren: Are you trying to make yourselves look bad?
Toro Rosso: TBA
Renault: Their schemes will probably do better than their 2016 performance.
Sahara/Aston Martin Racing: TBA
Haas: Same with Renault
Manor: Eh

I actually like it. I like the fact that someone agrees with the idea of F1 cars with a closed cockpit.

On the contrary, closed cockpits can have it's flaws. For example, the driver can't get out of the car if it's on fire, plus, we don't get to see the brilliant helmet designs anymore.

Once again, through the powers of dumb luck. A particular racing series has been re-affirmed in my mind as the best in the world.

Re: 2016 Formula 1 Series thread
Good to see Haas run that good, I was honestly expecting them to contend for last with Manor but I am glad I was wrong at least so far.
Another pleasant surprise was that Alonso was ok after that rough wreck, hopefully he can shake it off and him and Button can get Mclaren some points a lot earlier this year cause I really want to see this team make a big comeback
