Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring Empty Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring

Post by nhood53 February 20th 2019, 5:22 pm

Coming off of a Kentucky race where we saw a lot of nothing and a little bit of everything, including a new first time winner in Vince Freeze and a big crash that led to injuries sustained by Louise Johnson and Season 4 champion Dimundi, the CTRS is off to Germany to the Eurospeedwau Lausitzring. With the threat of rain throughout the day at the track, the race may not make it to its full 250 lap distance, however, by the series rules, the race can end at lap 93. Will all 250 laps be ran?Can Vince Freeze back up his Kentucky win? Will this race be longer than the NMGAR 800? Tomorrow's the day to find out these answers and more as B. Moss leads the field to the start of the Nestle 500.

Rain has rolled in hard in Klettwitz, race is on hold for now, expecting a 6:00 start for the race unless the rain stays.

After the weather has held this race back, B. Moss heads through turn 4 to the green flag!
Lap 1: DePlatt with a great start.
Lap 2: McDonald just made a pass on both the 65 and DePlatt.
Lap 3: Caution 1: Dimundi clips Vince Freeze who sends Lukewalker on a spin. Dimundi comes off the wall and collects Millers, then spins himself. Satska also involved. Lukewalker clips Gonzalez coming back up the track then is clobbered by Sandfer. Dalton, Kendall, James, and Lothaire-Irvine among those stacked up. Bubba Martin with engine smoke on the 52. Leader is DePlatt.
Lap 10: Stucole with a big move for 4th. Jake is in 5th, haven't seen Beka up front since the beginning.
Lap 16: Deb takes 4th away from Stucole in the 3.
Lap 16: Hunter takes the lead.
Lap 17: Short lived lead for Sally, DePlatt and Rehall pass her.
Lap 18: Deb now by Hunter, fighting for second with Rehall. McDonald up to fifth.
Lap 21: Rehall back by Hunter.

Lap 41: DePlatt back in the lead, Rehall up to second.
Lap 46: Rehall to the lead. McDonald and Shepherd by Deb as she slips down to sixth.
Lap 52: After pit stops, DePlatt has a huge lead over the 3. Rain coming from the north and east.

Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring Empty Re: Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring

Lap 82: McDonald by DePlatt for 4th.
Lap 87: Shepherd takes the lead from Rehall. Everyone knows we are not racing to lap 250. McDonald to second with DePlatt third.
Lap 91: McDonald back out front.
Lap 93: We have an official race now. McDonald heads the leaders into the pits.
Lap 98: McDonald leads Stucole, Sheppard, Deb, and Alexia Wise at pit exit.
Lap 101: Sheppard to second by Stucole. Expect another 2 hours without rain, although there is a big system coming from the north and east.
Lap 104: Caution for rain.
Lap 106: Cars brought down pit lane for the rain delay. Hopeful that this brief shower can pass through and we can get back racing, but William McDonald's team is doing a rain dance.
Lap 106: Sky Lukewalker, Kendall, Bubba Martin, Sandfer, and Bul Dalton are out, as all drivers below 2 laps down are required to park and call it a night under rain delays. All lapped cars (35, 59, 49) will get their laps back if we go back green.
Lap 111: Rain has cleared the track, going back green in one lap.
Lap 112: Green flag is back out, William McDonald gets a great start!
Lap 116: Stucole to the lead.
Lap 117: Sheppard to the front now.
Lap 119: Caution 3: Mack Johnson and PH Williams lose control after Carmichael made a bold move.
Lap 123: Sheppard leads the field back to the start, SO Garrison with mechanical issues. Track is officially clear of the storm.
Lap 125: Halfway. Stucole to the lead. Rehall to second.
Lap 127: Sheppard consistently losing spots now. McDonald to fourth, he's back to fifth.
Lap 130: Rehall to the lead.
Lap 134: Deb to the lead from third. Stucole to second, McDonald to third.
Lap 135: Stucole to the lead now.
Lap 136: Big battle for the front few spots, McDonald takes it back for the first time since the rains came.
Lap 138/ Deb back out front, the top 4 have pulled back away from Gonzalez.
Lap 141: McDonald to the lead, Gonzalez has caught the top 4.
Lap 144: Rehall back out front, Sheppard going for second and will take it, McDonald falls in line third.
Lap 149: Sheppard pulls away with the lead as Garrison holds up the pack.
Lap 152: Guess who's came up to the front? The 11.
Lap 165: After the pit stops, Freeze has a 3 second lead over Carmichael, Deb and Michael McKalister.
Lap 172: Freeze is beginning to romp away with this one. No way he'll lose unless the rain hits during pit stops.
Lap 186: McDonald just made a 3 wide pass for fourth. Also, Freeze reported a slight shower in Turn 2, but no caution.
Lap 189: Sheppard probably made the best pit call for the long haul, he has worked from outside the top 10 to third.
Lap 193: Freeze has pitted, now to hope the weather doesn't hit is Freeze's goal, he will likely have a huge lead. Deb is currently out front but her and others still need to come down.
Lap 202: Freeze has a 6 second lead over Carmichael and 8 over Lothaire-Irvine.

Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring Empty Re: Round 2: Nestle 500 @ Eurospeedway Lausitzring

Post by nhood53 February 21st 2019, 11:03 pm

Lap 215: I thought we were racing the rain today, instead it appears we'll have a fuel mileage race. Rehall can definitely try to make it to the end, Freeze will definitely need to pit.
Lap 217: McDonald catching Carmichael as the rain comes in. Caution is back out, and Freeze is hoping it stays!
Lap 225: Rain has left the track, drivers have rode out the delay under caution. No more strategy worries, Freeze leads to the green.
Lap 227: Lothaire-Irvine to the lead, showers have reoccurred. It is possible that the officials may let them ride out this rain.
Lap 228: Carmichael to the lead, everyone is losing control in the rain.
Lap 232: Officials rule that this is a slight pass-through shower, let 'em race.
Lap 237: No loss of grip, Anderson just made a 4 wide pass for second.
Lap 240: 53 to second. Benoit Lothaire spins in the back, no caution.
Lap 246: We're going to CTRS Overtime after a spin by Deb and Alexia Wise, when Deb turned Wise down into the wet grass, Wise came back across and clobbered Deb.
Lap 253: Brenna Carmichael leads to the start of CTRS overtime.
Lap 255: Jake Moss leads the 53, the WestFalls are in the wall. Last corner, and it doesn't appear as if anyone will catch the 53, Hood wins at Eurospeedway Lausitzring!
