Re: S2 PWCOM Schedule(UPDATED AS OF 2-3-2018)
New Faces, New Places: Details on the Changes to the S2 PWCOM Schedule
In case you missed it. PWCOM has announced some major changes to the schedule for S2, including 4 new tracks, a slight change to where the Irish Hills 400 was placed on the schedule, as well as some more details that they said would be shared at a later date. But let's take a look at the 4 new tracks that have been added to the PWCOM schedule:
Mosport:
Mosport is a 2.45 mile road course located north of Ontario, Canada. This track has been known for some exciting racing and close finishes in other racing series, and PWCOM officials are hopeful that Mosport will bring the same level of excitement for PWCOM.. This race was put in place for Vancouver; the main reason being that Vancouver's tendencies to have major tire problems was a concern for PWCOM officials, especially with an increased field size.
Martinsville Speedway:
Martinsville is a 0.526 mile short track located in Ridgeway, Virginia. This track has been known for some great beating, banging, and battling, as well as possibly some some hot tempers after the race, as many great short tracks have across the United States. Martinsville was technically put in place of Shanghai, although in reality it was added to the schedule in exchange of Vancouver, as PWCOM's seasonal short track event. The main reason for Shanghai being taken off the schedule was for a lack of passing and excitement, as well as problems with the weather hampering the entire race weekend.
Atlanta Motor Speedway:
Atlanta is a 1.5 Mile oval located in Hampton, Georgia. AMS has been known for it's high speeds, incredible battling for positions. and very close finishes. Atlanta was put in place for Texas Motor Speedway; the main reason being the lack of passing and excitement in the race.
Devil's Bowl Speedway:
Devil's Bowl Speedway is a 1/2 Mile Dirt Oval located in Mesquite, Texas. It is considered one of the top dirt tracks in the Southwest, and has shown some great action in different stock car series. Devil's Bowl Speedway is put in place of DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. PWCOM in their press release mentioned that of the 4 tracks that were taken off the schedule, this one was the most difficult, but because of Texas Motor Speedway being taken off the schedule, they felt it was necessary to still have a track in Texas.

Another change to the schedule that was made was the Irish Hills 400 @Michigan International Speedway will be moved from Round 10 to Round 9, to have a better balance of National and International tracks, as all as a better balance of ovals and road courses on the schedule.
More details about the Irish Hills 400 and other events will be shared at a later date.

SCHEDULE UPDATE: Trois Rivieres has been put on the schedule as an last minute substitute for Mosport for Round 2, as some safety concerns at the track were enough to PWCOM officials to announce a movement to the Quebec street circuit.
