Round 16: The Indianapolis 250
Season 22's Indianapolis race will be the last 250 miler
One of the hallmarks of the Orion Elite Series is the Indianapolis 250. The Indianapolis 250 used to be the hallmark endurance race back in the early days of the series. However, with the addition of new milage rules for ovals over 1.7 miles long, the Indianapolis 250 isn't much of an endurance race anymore. Therefore Vijay Pushanda has announced that the Season 23 running of the race will be a 400 mile race.
Will the Season 22 Indianapolis 250 be another first time winner?
One of the more recent trends of the Indianapolis 250 has been the massive increase in the number of first time winners. The Indianapolis 250 out of every race in the history of the sport, has the highest percentage of giving a first time winner. Drivers like former OES series champions, Nick Pericles and Henry Sandfer have scored their first wins at Indianapolis. Last season, Kyle Basaglia scored his first win at Indianapolis as well. Vincent Allen scored his first OES victory at Indianapolis when it hosted the 4th running of the American 700. The question now becomes, if Indianapolis has another first time winner, who will take out the win? Well, BFM has been on a hot streak lately. Kenny Myatt finally got that first win monkey off their back. Could Madeline Myatt or William Brock score their first win this weekend? Both Maddie and Brock have been strong on the superspeedways in the past. Scott Roush could be another contender, he seems like a driver who could be a serious threat at Indianapolis. The other team that looked VERY strong in the Indianapolis tire test was the CJ Racing team. Many people think that CJ racing will be the next team to make a BFM-style run next season. CJ Racing looked really fast in Indianapolis tire testing, and Chris Dodd could be a threat as well!

Blaze McKinney: I can not believe I made it here with my dream team, I told Freeman that either I will win or he is getting back a steering wheel!
Roush: I was quick In practice. I didn't make the race last season but this season I am guaranteed in!

Griffin: "Coming here is always special. This is the motorsports Holy Grail. This is where that thing we call motorsports truly began. Every driver wants to win here, whether your an 18 year old rookie or a 40+ year old veteran. After everything that's happened the last week, coming here seems to put all your worries and troubles to the side for one event. This is speed, this is history, this is Indianapolis."

Noah Hart: My brother won this race in Season 3. That was an amazing day, our parents were there and we all celebrated. This race means so much, however, much like the American 700 this race has haunted me. Many times I've came here with a car capable of winning. All I have wanted all my career was to win here. So much bad luck. We came so close in Season 19 when I finished second to Henry Sandfer that day I had to sit down next to my car on pit road after the race. I drove so damn hard to win that race, before my career is said and done I want to win this race and win the American 700. I will not quit, I will fight. Our crew worked hard weeks in advance for this race. Can't thank them enough. Let's go show them what we are made of.

Alex: "I've been close to winning here so many times, I remember that my first OES start was here. I drove a back up car Andreas had, ran up front all day, but got into a wreck. I feel like this is my year we've had many great runs, and this is certainly the best car I have had in years."
Vincent: "Won here in my second start in OES, haven't won here since, I would love to win the last Indy 250. Certainly a track with a ton of meaning in the Allen family."

Shepherd: Hopefully I can do well here at the 250. Just needing a decent time at least with the car to hopefully get us into the top 20 in qualifying.

Re: Round 16: The Indianapolis 250
Back on qualifying day, I took some time to think, walked over to Dodd's bus, said congrats, good luck, and told him I was back off to Texas. I needed some time to think. Needed time to prepare. I was able to work on some vehicles of other series and cheered for Dodd on my own TV. Hope he's able to pull off a strong day so that we can prep for the next races.
Re: Round 16: The Indianapolis 250
Noah Hart: I am absolutely devastated... I had Baskinger right where I wanted him... This race has haunted me all my career. Whenever I'm not wrecking out we come so close to winning it and man... Second sucks. Had that wreck not happened I believe I could of had it... I really wanted to win that race...
Re: Round 16: The Indianapolis 250
Griffin: "Now that's the kind of run we should be having on a racely basis. Car was great today, these guys gave me a good piece. Just didn't catch a break with yellow then the lap cars. Once Jake and Noah got by, I just didn't have enough to get back to them. All and all, a 3rd is not bad and we'll earned by this team."

Tauger: I'd like to applaud the guys at the shop for not only getting me in the race, but somehow managing to get pole position. Though, they apparently forgot to change the car setup for the race.

Dodd, 12th: "Man, we had such a good car! It sucks that we had so many issues, either with lap cars or having a flat tire, that really hurt us all day. But I am proud of this #08 SPYoptic/DMR team for bringing such a great car, and hopefully we can continue this momentum throughout the rest of the season, and we can finish this season out strong!"

Haddix: "13th. Run probably showed all those haters out there I really do have talent. Might think about a full time schedule next year, too, because I've sorta shown myself as a consistent top 10 contender at these one off races."

Re: Round 16: The Indianapolis 250
Noah Hart: I feel like I had Baskinger set up. I had him right where I wanted him. I had such a good car. If there's anyone in the garage that could win this that wasn't myself Baskinger would be one of the few I would name. He's a great racer and deserved it. I feel Indy has owed me one over these years. I feel like I've made my mark on the series. Hardly anyone else is still in this series full time from the early seasons and I have accomplished a lot but Indy is one of them races I want to check off my resume. We came up short, we'll try again next year.
This was a good points day, we are 55 back. All these young guns over the years have impressed me. The sport is much different now than what it was in Season 7 when I won the title. I would love to come on top now. Winning a title is the all time high a driver dreams about. I'd like to think I still have it in me to be as competitive as I use to be to get it done. This performance this weekend has made me believe in myself that the move to stay in the series and not retire was a good call. Can't wait to see what the future has in store and if we can't make a run at the title.
